Tennessee Titans wide receiver O.J. Murdock died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound early Monday morning.

Details regarding what exactly happened remain scarce at the moment but, according to multiple reports, the 25-year-old shot himself in front of his high school in Tampa. He was eventually discovered by deputies at around 8:30 a.m.

Once found Murdock was quickly transported to Tampa General Hospital, however, obviously there was nothing they could do.

According to Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean, the Titans are aware of the situation.

Murdock originally joined the team as an undrafted free agent in 2011.

We’ll update this story as more information comes in.

An updated release said he had died at 10:43 a.m.

"This is just surprise," said former Middleton coach Harry Hubbard, adding Murdock seemed in great spirits when he ran into him at last fall's Blake-Middleton football game. "I don't know if something else is involved or not. That just knocks me off my feet."
