Should Roger Goodell, NFL Eliminate Kickoffs? No

| by

In an exclusive interview with TIME magazine, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, said the league is considering an idea from Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano that would eliminate kickoffs.

After a touchdown or field goal, instead of kicking off, a team would get the ball on its own 30 yard line, facing fourth down with and 15 yards to go. The options are either to go for it and try to retain possession or punt the ball away. If you try for a first down and fall short, the opposing team would take over with good field position.

The proposal to get rid of kickoffs was one of several topics discussed in an interview focused on the shocking murder-suicide involving Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher.

Whoa! That has to be the stupidest idea in the history of ideas! It’s a worse idea than the rouge used in the CFL!

This judge looked an inmate square in the eyes and did something that left the entire courtroom in tears:

I’m all for reducing concussions and if they want to talk about just giving the receiving team the ball at the 20-yard line they should discuss the merits, but this would be insane! If you are down at the end of the game you wouldn’t even have to onsides kick to get the ball back! You would already have it at your own 30-yard line with a 4th and 15! Give that to one of the Manning brothers, Brady, Rodgers and a few others and they might convert that 25% – 30% of the time!

Schiano needs to be checked for a concussion for coming up with the idea and Goodell needs to be checked for one for considering it!
