Should Giants Running Back David Wilson Stop with the Flips?

| by

Rookie  running back David Wilson does a backflip every time he scores a touchdown. That amounted to three backflips this past Sunday. Some of his teammates aren’t too keen on that, because – basically – they think that Wilson is going to hurt himself.

Here’s what Justin Tuck had to say:

“I told him several times never to do that again,” Tuck said Wednesday. “We’re going to have another talk about not doing it. Everyone knows how athletic he is, but the last thing we need is him having some tweak injury by showing off to the crowd.” (credit: ESPN)

Jackie Chan never tweaks anything, and he backflips all the time. The only people that hurt themselves doing backflips are cheerleaders who’s teammates forget to catch them. When I was 8 years old I tried to a backflip in my upstairs hallway and landed on my head. I’m sure I had a concussion, but I was essentially fine. Plus, I almost made it.

And I was a semi-athletic 8-year old. David Wilson isn’t going to mess up a backflip. Chill out, Tuck. Or, listen to Wilson’s take on the whole thing:

“It’s a possibility they can go wrong,” he said. “But for me, I’ve been doing ‘em since I was 3 years old. It’s like easy — it’s almost like running, for me to jump and turn backwards. I’ve been doing it for a while, I think people can relax a little.” (credit: ESPN)

See? The guy’s fine. He’s also better than Ahmad Bradshaw, who can’t stay on the field and doesn’t produce even when he does play. So encourage the youngster, will ya?

What you should be more worried about is the video up above. Have you seen your boy rap? Yikes. I tried that when I was 8 years old too, and we sound about the same.

UPDATE: You stop rapping too, Isaiah Pead.
