INDIANAPOLIS, IN–(Marketwire – February 2, 2011) – RotoExperts, LLC, the independent industry leader in Fantasy Sports content, is proud to announce that the winner of the inaugural 2011 RotoExperts NFL Fantasy Player of the Year Award is quarterback Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints. The Award is presented in conjunction with the Maxwell Football Club (MFC).
Brees won the award in record-setting fashion, throwing for 5,476 yards with an amazing 46 TDs and a quarterback rating of 110.6. Other quarterbacks getting votes were Aaron Rodgers, finishing a close second, Cam Newton, Tom Brady and Matthew Stafford. Rob Gronkowski finished first among tight ends with Calvin Johnson getting the most votes at wide receiver, while LeSean McCoy finished in a virtual tie with Ray Rice among running backs.
“The Maxwell Football Club is proud to present the inaugural RotoExperts NFL Fantasy Player of the Year Award to Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints,” said Ron Jaworski, President of the Maxwell Football Club. “Fantasy Football is a major force in driving interest to the NFL and the MFC recognizes both the importance of fan interactive participation, and the knowledge of fantasy participants with regard to the NFL game. Drew Brees’ record-setting on-field accomplishments during the 2011 season are what provided the impetus for winning this award. The standards Drew has set off the field as a fine example for young boys and girls make presenting him with this award even more special.”
“It was our pleasure to partner with the Maxwell Football Club in presenting this inaugural award,” said RotoExperts CEO Louis M. Maione. “The MFC, with its history and prestige, is one of the most revered athletic clubs in the nation. Having a man of character like Drew Brees winning the award speaks to the standards of both the MFC as well as RotoExperts, and the notion that nice guys don’t always finish last. Having a man with the statistical prowess and talent that Drew Brees displayed on the field during the 2011 season was not only a winning recipe for the Saints, but also the recipe for a Fantasy Football championship.”

According to the Fantasy Sports Trade Association (FSTA), the industry reached over 35 million adult Americans in 2011 and participation has grown over 60% the past four years, with 19% of males in the U.S. playing Fantasy Sports. It’s estimated that over 32 million people age 12 and above in the U.S. and Canada played Fantasy Sports in 2011, with 77 percent of them playing Fantasy Football. Growth in the Fantasy Sports industry is rampant and estimated to have had a $3 – $4 billion annual economic impact across the sports industry, with metrics in both participation and economics rising faster than it can be recorded. Taking advantage of the explosion of interest in Fantasy Sports, RotoExperts is honored to have become a founding Sponsor of the inaugural Fantasy Football Fest, operated by ReedPOP, to be held at the Atlantic City Convention Center August 18-19, 2012.
“Every event that ReedPOP produces offers a world-class celebration of pop culture by providing unique access, up close and personal experiences and interactive events that focus on exactly what the fans want most,” said Greg Topalian, Sr. Vice President, ReedPOP. “The Fantasy Football Fest is an exciting addition to our portfolio in that it harnesses the passion of the virtual Fantasy Football world to an in-person, live event.”
The Fantasy Football Fest expects to bring over 25,000 fans in approximately 300,000 square feet of total experience space. Activities and special events include a Draft Day Party, Athlete and Celebrity appearances, Sports Video Game tournaments and free-play, interactive athletic competitions, Sports Memorabilia, a Tailgate Party and Beer Tasting. While the Fantasy Football Fest focuses on fantasy football, including space for leagues to conduct drafts and fantasy experts providing tips and insights to help players’ teams perform at their best, the festival is much more than just a fantasy happening. It promises to be about every aspect of professional football, except strapping on the pads to get hit. The show will offer something for every member of the family in addition to being an amazing weekend for the hardcore fantasy player.
