For those keeping score at home, Chad Ochocinco’s newfound dedication to football and not mugging for camera time lasted all of two seconds. That’s about a second longer than it lasted in Cincinnati, so maybe the Bill Belichick way does work.
While speaking with reporters on Tuesday, Ochocinco said he was still getting acclimated to his new team and locale. In fact, the poor guy still hasn’t even found a place to live – if you can believe that.
So what’s this millionaire’s solution to that dilemma? A hotel? Maybe staying with one of his teammates? Apparently there isn’t as much money in professional football as we have been led to believe, because the New England Patriots wide receiver has a slightly difference plan in mind.
“I’m going to do something different,’’ said Ochocinco. “I’m actually going to stay with a fan, probably the first two or three weeks of the season. So that should be fun until I get myself acclimated, I learn my way around and actually just find a place.”
Well, that makes sense. Ochocinco was always a man of the people, so as a man of the people, he doesn’t mind slumming it with the regular folk as he looks for a more permanent abode. Unusual, but understandable.
As a professional athlete, though, the ex-Pro Bowler probably needs a bunch of football-related stuff in the house, right? Specific foods, drinks and shakes? Maybe some sort of exercise machines?
When speaking on what two items he would need his fan roommate to have, Ochocinco limited it to the following: an Internet connection and an Xbox gaming system.
Congratulations, Patriots fans. Clearly this is going to be one distraction-free, all-business year.
