The NFL announced today that Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice was suspended for two games and and fined an additional game check for an incident in which he allegedly assaulted his wife.
Back in February, Rice was arrested for reportedly punching Janay Palmer Rice, his fiancee at the time, in an Atlantic City hotel.
After a video surfaced of Rice dragging Palmer’s unconscious body out of an elevator, Rice was charged with aggravated assault.
In May, Rice pleaded not guilty, but later that month entered a “diversionary” program that allowed him to avoid a criminal trial, reported The Baltimore Sun.

Rice and Janay got married days after the alleged assault.
Today, the NFL announced Rice's suspension "for conduct detrimental to the NFL in violation of the league’s Personal Conduct Policy."

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a letter to Rice: "We simply cannot tolerate conduct that endangers others or reflects negatively on our game. This is particularly true with respect to domestic violence and other forms of violence against women."
"It's not a big deal," Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said today, noted Sports Illustrated. "It's just part of the process. We always said from the beginning that the circumstances would determine the consequences. There are consequences when you make a mistake like that."
Apparently, it really isn't a "big deal" for the NFL as NFLShop.com is selling a pink Ray Rice jersey for women (pictured above) described as:
