The New York Jets were knocked out of playoff contention this past Monday night when Mark Sanchez threw four brutal interceptions that essentially cost his team the game. Less than 24 hours later, Rex Ryan announced that he would bench his much maligned quarterback.
Regardless of what happens over the next couple of outings, clearly New York will need to acquire a capable starter to fill that void for next season.
So the Jets now turn their attention to finding a suitable replacement for someone who threw 17 picks in 14 games; who do you think their primary target will be? Remember, this is the Jets we’re talking about. Of course it will be someone who threw nine interceptions in nine games (also, 23 in his last 22) before getting replaced by an unproven rookie.

The News has learned that Michael Vick, who is expected to be released by the Eagles shortly after the season, would be amenable to coming to the Jets if Sanchez is out of the equation.
“Bring it on,” one Jets source said about signing Vick if he becomes available. “He was hit too many times (behind a subpar offensive line) the last two years.”
Rex Ryan may be the X-factor to landing Vick, according to sources. Ryan has always had an affinity for Vick, who could potentially help save the coach from getting his walking papers after the 2013 season.
“(Ryan) loves him,” a team official said.

Well if Ryan loves him...
The Jets have already proven how good they are at harnessing the talents of dual-threat, overhyped quarterbacks, so obviously this will work out well. And the gentle, welcoming New York media will likely be very patient with Vick as he scrambles around the pocket before throwing an untimely interception time after time, game after game.
The Jets, folks – they stay Jets-ing.
