Dez Bryant had a solid sophomore campaign last year with the Dallas Cowboys, racking up 63 receptions for 928 yards, along with nine touchdowns. Bryant looks to top himself this year, especially seeing as the third year is usually the breakout season for most receivers in the NFL.
With Laurent Robinson gone, the Cowboys are stuck on finding a slot receiver. It surely won’t be Miles Austin or Bryant, but the two have been competing for the top receiver spot on the depth chart. Bryant has been showing freakish-type talent, according to team VP Stephen Jones.
“He’s had his finest camp since he’s been a Cowboy, and he’s an electrifying guy when he’s rolling,” Jones said. “Not that he hasn’t had some really solid years, but he’s got a chance to have a breakout year this year.”
With that, Jones thinks Bryant has enough to be the team’s top receiver for the upcoming season.
Popular VideoThis young teenage singer was shocked when Keith Urban invited her on stage at his concert. A few moments later, he made her wildest dreams come true.
“Well, I think he needs to be a No. 1 receiver. Not to take anything away from Miles [Austin], but I would submit to you that when we line up out there that the guy that they’re the most worried about is Dez,” Jones said. “And he’s got to be that guy, and even when they do try to stop him, the great ones still make a lot of plays. Tony [Romo]‘s got to be able to count on him, he’s got to run the right routes at the right depths and be a precise route runner. Those are the things he’s got to improve on. If he can do those things, then obviously we can really achieve what we want to accomplish, which is win a championship.”
We’ll see what Bryant will this season. I’m expecting big things from the 23-year-old.
