The Houston Texans have had a spotlight on their running back situation since Arian Foster first felt a tweak in his hamstring. Derrick Ward was listed behind him, but he’s been hurt too. Behind him was the early-season fantasy darling Ben Tate, who was a second-round pick last year who missed all season with an injury.
Behind them? Steve Slaton, who was a fantasy stud just three years or so ago. But, he’s since fallen off too, with a neck injury and issues with holding on to the football.
Well, the Houston Texans noticed those issues apparently, because, according to Jason La Canfora of NFLN, they have cut him loose.
“Texans are releasing former feature back Steve Slaton and promoting RB Chris Ogbonnaya from practice squad to take his place,” La Canfora tweets.

In 2008, Slaton had 1,282 yards, ran for nine TD’s and caught another. Since then? Just about nothing. More than 400 yards in 2009 then…total flameout.
