Falcons Rookie Bradie Ewing Tears ACL, Out for Year

The Falcons were dealt a blow last week after it was announced 5th round rookie fullback Bradie Ewing tore his ACL yesterday, ending his season.  Atlanta was riding pretty high after a very nice showing with their first stringers in new offensive and defensive schemes.

Bradie, the first fullback taken in the draft, made Ovie Mughelli replacable, and was expected to be a very versatile young blocker.  While fullback is not the most impactful position on the field, the loss will hurt with only Mike Cox as the only replacement on the roster.

Dirk Koetter does not use the fullback as often as old coordinator Mike Mularkey, but the position immediately goes to the top of our needs.

Cox was signed to a two year deal last season, meaning Atlanta liked something about him, but we should see another blocker added.  Adam Caplan believes Ahmard Hall, Mike Sellers, Lousaka Polite and Fui Vakapuna to be the best fullbacks available.

With a list like that we may wait until final cuts or cross our fingers with Cox and Snelling as backup.
