Curtis Martin’s 2012 Hall of Fame Induction Speech (Video)

| by Alex Groberman

Over the course of his career, Curtis Martin displayed an almost innate ability to fly under the radar. Despite clearly being one of the greatest running backs to ever record a carry, Martin neither sought the limelight nor took advantage when it was shined on him by someone else. He was strangely content going out, doing what he did, and then going home.

On Saturday, in one line, he explained what it was that made him who he was: “I played for a purpose bigger than the game because I knew that the love for the game just wasn't in my heart.”

Martin certainly isn’t the first NFL player to not love the game of football – he’s just the first to be so honest about it.

Check out his entire moving speech in the video below.
