Video: Should Ndamukong Suh be Punished for this Hit on Jay Cutler During Bears-Lions?

| by Alex Groberman

A brutal hit by Ndamukong Suh during Monday night’s showdown between the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears left many people wondering whether or not additional punishment was necessary.

With less than five minutes remaining in the second quarter, Jay Cutler took a first down snap and was chased out of the pocket by a very aggressive Lions pass rush. Just as he was preparing to get rid of the ball, Cutler was brought down hard by Suh. While the long-term damage from the play appears to be minimal (x-rays didn’t show anything and Cutler was eventually permitted to return), onlookers had an assortment of opinions on the hit itself.

It looked pretty clean on our end. Was it a hard tackle? Sure. But there was no malice there.

Brandon Marshall had a slightly different take on what happened, though. Here is what he tweeted out after the game:

A Suh. What u did to Jay wasn't cool. Great players don't have to do that.

What do you think: should Suh be fined/suspended for the hit, or was it just a standard football tackle?
