Video: Sebastian Janikowski Nails Record 63-Yard FG vs. Broncos

| by Alex Groberman

It’s rare that a kicker will capture headlines after a Monday Night Football game, but that’s precisely what happened to Oakland Raiders kicker, Sebastian Janikowski.

During Monday’s eventual 23-30 Raiders victory, Janikowski tied an NFL record with a 63-yard field goal to end the first half and give his team a 16-3 lead. The Raiders originally got the ball back with 24 seconds remaining in the half after Matt Giordano intercepted a faulty pass thrown by Kyle Orton. Following a 15-yard facemask penalty on Denver and a completion by Jason Campbell that moved Oakland to the Denver 45-yard line, Janikowski sent the ball over the crossbar as time expired.

Prior to this kick, the record for the longest field goal in NFL history was shared by Tom Dempsey and Jason Elam (who also made his kick in Denver).
