NFL Analysis: Tim Tebow is a Pro Bowl Quarterback?

| by

If you go on and take a look at the promotion they have running on their Home Page (about midway through the page) for the Pro Bowl, you’ll find that they have three quarterbacks listed for both the AFC and NFC. You can click through and get to the full ballot, but these are the guys they are using for the promotion (God please don’t tell me that it means they are the leading vote getters).

Let’s first start with the NFC where the three QB’s they are promoting are are Alex Smith, Aaron Rodgers and Eli Manning.

Alex Smith? Does smith have an unflattering picture of someone in the NFL marketing department? Does he have one of Roger Goodell? How is it possible that Drew Brees isn’t there? And while I’m not going to quibble about Eli Manning, is there a reason that they aren’t pushing Cam Newton? Don’t they have the pulse on their fans and who’s popular?

And on the AFC Side it’s worse. They don’t have Cam Newton on the short list pushing the hot marketing guy, but they only have the hot marketing guys on the list here. The short list contains Tim Tebow, Andy Dalton and Tom Brady.

Tim Tebow? Yes, I understand, he’s 6-1 and I actually like rooting for the guy because I love rooting for the underdog, and so many people think he will fail. But really, a Pro Bowl QB? Isn’t the same guy that has 90% of the pundits (both former players and main stream media) saying that he can’t throw the ball and can’t play the position? And Andy Dalton? Pro Bowl? Why, is there a requirement to have red-headed representation on the team? Nice rookie year, great kid, but a Pro Bowl QB? Where’s Ben Roethlisberger? Big Ben isn’t a Pro Bowl QB and Tebow and Dalton are? What kind of a bizarro NFL world is this?

Actually, the more I look at it, the NFL doesn’t currently have much more than what they are offering here. There just aren’t really many Pro Bowl worthy QB’s!
