Everybody agrees that the top two quarterbacks in the 2015 NFL Draft are Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota, but who follows these two Heisman trophy winners? Some say Baylor’s quarterback Bryce Petty is a good option.
According to NFL.com’s Gil Brandt, the new Buffalo Bills coach, Rex Ryan, made a trip to Texas to watch Petty.
“#Bills coach Rex Ryan was in Waco last week to work out Baylor QB Bryce Petty,” Brandt shared on his Twitter account.
The Bills traded their 2015 first round pick for Sammy Watkins last year, so their first pick in the draft doesn’t come until No. 50 in the second round. With the Bills in big need of a quarterback, Bryce Petty would be a great fit to battle for the starting job against EJ Manuel, Tyrod Taylor, and recently acquired Matt Cassel.

The question will be whether Petty will be available at 50 overall or if the Bills would be willing to trade up to get him. Draft experts don’t expect Petty to be first round material, although they do love his size, leadership and intangibles. His senior season was a disappointing year, but he was playing with an injured back for most of the year.
NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock likes Petty, but also isn’t sure if he is quite NFL-ready.
"He might be the most natural thrower of the football in this entire draft,” Mayock said. “I really think he's got starter physical traits. I don't think he's (NFL-) ready.”
Wherever Petty ends up, he will have the opportunity to show his competitiveness and may even land a starting job in the near future.
