2012 NFL Week 14 Breakdown: Cincinnati Bengals vs. Dallas Cowboys
This week’s Game of the Week features the Cincinnati Bengals hosting the Dallas Cowboys. The Bengals are trying to keep their unlikely run toward a possible playoff spot going, while the Cowboys are just trying to avoid further embarrassment. I’ll break it down for you below.
Key Matchup: Bengals secondary vs. Cowboys passing game. The Bengals are going to be able to run the ball on the Cowboys with some success and put up some points. But the questions is, can the Bengals stop Tony Romo well enough to avoid turning this one turning into a shootout. I don’t think Andy Dalton will be able to keep up with the Cowboys in a high scoring game so it falls on the Bengals secondary to hold the Cowboys in check.
Player to Watch: BenJarvus Green-Ellis. The Law Firm has been going ballistic in the last several weeks. He has racked up over 100 yards in every game for the last 3 weeks and this week probably won’t be any different. The Cowboys are only 17th in the NFL in opponent’s rushing yards and Ellis will likely take advantage of this. Look for him to have another hundred yard performance and take some heat off of Andy Dalton.
Injury Report: The Bengals are pretty healthy. AJ Green is the only big name that was questionable during the week, but he will play Sunday. On the other hand, the Cowboys aren’t so lucky. They will be missing Jay Ratliff and Orlando Scandrick on the defensive side of the ball. Look for these injuries to play a big factor in the Bengals rushing attack.
My Prediction: Cowboys 27 Bengals 28. I think this is going to be an extremely close game and let’s face it, the Cowboys don’t have a great track record in close games. It’s going to come down to what team can execute in the clutch and I think Andy Dalton and BenJarvus Green-Ellis will get it done.
