Philly Radio Host Said He'd Bike to San Francisco if Eagles Lost

Howard Eskin is very well known in the Philadelphia sports community. Some love him. Some hate him. He’s a brash mouth that makes bold statements and will never, ever admit that he was wrong.

I’m thinking back to the week before a 2002 Eagles/Colts game in which he repeatedly told his listeners on 610 WIP that Peyton Manning was a fraud. The Colts went out and pasted the Eagles. To the point where Troy Vincent said afterwards that Peyton knew everything they were going to do before they did it. You think Howard admitted that he was way off on that? Of course not.

It’s this behavior that pisses people off. So, now that Howard has a lot of free time on his hands (he lost his afternoon drive-time slot on the station when they went to 94.1 FM), he should make good on his little wager of sorts with KNBR in the Bay Area. Howard said that he’d ride a bike to Philly from San Francisco if the Eagles somehow managed to lose to the 49ers.

“There is no chance the 49ers win—zero. This is a stone-cold mortal lock,” he told the guys on the radio.

“I’ll take a bike from Philadelphia to San Francisco [if the Niners beat the Eagles,” he continued. “Yes. There’s no way the Eagles go 1-3. None. Absolutely none. … They can’t lose to the 49ers.”

In case you missed it, the Eagles blew a 20-point second half lead to an awful 49ers team to go 1-3.

So Howard, are you going to man up and actually do it? If you have half a brain, you’ll go through with it and tie it into a charity.
