ESPN Apologizes for Brent Musburger Drooling Over Katherine Webb

| by Alex Groberman

The one and only thing from the BCS National Championship game that anyone wants to talk about today is Katherine Webb.

Maybe the fact that Alabama systemically destroyed Notre Dame took some of the fun out of analyzing what transpired; maybe A.J. McCarron’s girlfriend is really just that hot.

Whatever the reason, though, there is no getting around the fact that Webb -- not McCarron, Nick Saban, or Notre Dame -- is lone trending topic to emerge from Monday night’s outing.

While Webb was something of a household name amongst diehard college football fans and bloggers going into last night, the real world wasn’t familiar with her until Brent Musburger hilariously begin to salivate over her during ESPN’s broadcast. (In fairness to Musburger, though, he noted that McCarron’s mother was hot, too.)

As it turns out, the World Wide Leader wasn’t especially thrilled with their 73-year-old announcer taking things in direction. Today, they released this statement on the matter:

“We always try to capture interesting storylines and the relationship between an Auburn grad who is Miss Alabama and the current Alabama quarterback certainly met that test. However, we apologize that the commentary in this instance went too far and Brent understands that.”

Tough day for ESPN’s on-air talent
