College Football Coaching Rumors: Jon Gruden Turns Down the Tennessee Job

| by Alex Groberman

Jon Gruden was never going to go to Tennessee. Everyone but the most delusional Vols fans around knew that. Ridiculous, mostly nonsensical reports about him being offered an ownership stake in the Cleveland Browns if he were to become Tennessee's head football coach didn’t change the reality of the situation – this move was never going to happen.

On Friday, Jimmy Hyams took to Twitter to confirm what everyone with any sense already knew: Tennessee will not be landing Gruden as their next head coach.

Jon Gruden is out as UT candidate. Informed UT recently after phone talks last week. UT never offered contract, source said.

Hopefully now the Vols will be able to set their sights on a more realistic target.
