Arkansas Hires Wisconsin’s Bret Bielema as New Head Coach
On the heels of his Badgers winning the Big Ten Championship, Bret Bielema has decided to leave Wisconsin for greener pastures. According to multiple reports, the 42-year-old former defensive lineman has been hired by Arkansas to fill a void left behind by John L. Smith.
Wisconsin is scheduled to play Stanford in the Rose Bowl this year, however, it is unknown whether or not Bielema will be present for that.
In seven seasons with the Badgers Bielema has put together a 68-24 total record and won three straight Big Ten Championships. The most recent conference title, this year’s, came despite the fact that Wisconsin finished with an 8-5 final mark and only got into the championship game because neither Ohio State nor Penn State were eligible to participate.
Arkansas was one of the nation’s disappointing teams this year, putting together an unimpressive 4-8 mark after initially coming into the season ranked No. 10 in the country.
