College Football Week 14 Breakdown: Pittsburgh vs. South Florida

| by

I watched both of these teams a bit last weekend. 2 teams in totally different spots lead to me laying a bit under a TD on the road here.

Pitt has had a roller coaster of a season, losing to Youngstown St. early in the year, but almost beating the #1 team in the country a few weeks ago. They are playing with their 3rd coach in 4 years, and a 4 year QB. That QB gives them ability to play extremely well, but also poorly. I like Pitt here for a few reasons.

They are led by Tino Sunseri, who is playing in possibly his last college game ever, unless they win. They have a chance to go to a bowl with a win, while USF is clearly eliminated. I like that motivational side.

South Florida is bad. Their offense has gone down hill since BJ Daniels went down, believe it or not. Against a defense that ranks 25th in the NCAA rankings, I don’t see them being able to do much here. The past two weeks with Floyd at QB, they haven’t been able to get it going on offense.

Finally, even with BJ Daniels stats included, this Pitt team is just better statistically. They are better on offense, better on defense, and have a better coach. Throw in the motivational factor and USF playing injured and not caring, and I think Pitt covers a TD on the road. Honestly, I’ve been hit (ND) or miss (UC, UConn) with this Pitt team, but I can’t see them laying an egg here with everything on the line for their senior QB.

Final Score

Pitt 31 USF 17
