Video: Tommy Tuberville Smacks Assistant’s Headset Off During Texas Tech vs. Kansas

| by Alex Groberman

Every coach in college football hates unnecessary penalties, but nobody hates them more than Tommy Tuberville. How do we know that he hates unnecessary penalties more than any other coach in college football, you ask? Well, based on his actions. To date, no other coach has ever physically assaulted their assistants over a penalty.

Check out what happened between Tuberville and the pour, unfortunate sap that has to work for him in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s game:

After the game, Tuberville tried to explain that blatant smack like this (via ESPN):

"He was on the field, and I reached to grab him and pull him off. When I pulled, I missed his shirt and I grabbed his (headset) and his microphone ripped off his head. I was trying to get him off the field. "He's out on the field, and we're trying to get him off. I missed his shoulder, and grabbed his ... . It wasn't anything to it."

So there you have it. Are you going to believe Tuberville or your lying eyes?
