The NFL Combine is this weekend, and I know many of you will be patiently watching to see how your favorite college player does. The bad news for Falcon fans is that we don’t have a 1st round pick. The hype around the combine normally focuses on the 1st round prospects. Alas, we can still enjoy everything the combine has to offer, so sit back and enjoy those 40yd dashes.
Here are some of my top prospects heading into the weekend.
QB- Andrew Luck (Stanford), Robert Griffin III (Baylor), Brandon Weeden (Ok. State)
HB-Trent Richardson (Alabama), Doug Martin(Boise St), David Wilson (VT)

These are just a few of the possible impact players in the draft this year. I think for the Falcons the key is to not make any mistakes with talent evaluation. We cannot afford to have our 1st selection this year fizzle out; I think we should all pay close attention to the defensive backs and tight ends. It is way too early for me to begin doing mock drafts, I normally hold my thoughts on a player’s projection until after the combine. I believe that tape is more important than showing up in Indy, but there is a real possibility that the Falcons can benefit from a fallen star. Here are a few names of guys that could slip into the 2nd round.
Chandler Jones DE (Syracuse)
Jerel Worthy DT (Mich St)
Orson Charles TE (Georgia)
Dwayne Allen TE (Clemson)
Vinny Curry *Hybrid (Marshall)
Brandon Boykin DB (Georgia)
Markelle Martin FS (Ok State)
Zebrie Sanders OT (FSU)
Ben Jones C (UGA)
David Wilson RB (VT)
Jared Crick DE (Nebraska)
Those were a few players that may be there come April. The bottom line… There is a long way to go Falcon fans, but it all starts this weekend! I will be following up with my thoughts on risers/fallers after the combine. Hopefully this weekend is a great one for TD & company. I myself will be watching all weekend so feel free to voice your opinion below throughout the weekend.
