LaQuinton Ross has always been regarded as a player with the potential to be an absolute stud, who hasn’t quite lived up to the hype.
On Thursday night he lived up to the hype.
With Ohio State knotted in a 70-70 tie and seemingly headed to overtime, Ross nailed a clutch three with two seconds left on the game clock to put his team up for good.
Much like Ohio State’s hero in the last game, Aaron Craft, Ross would have likely been viewed as the goat if the Buckeyes had been defeated. He fouled Mark Lyons with about 20 seconds remaining in the game and was the reason it was tied up in the first place.
Following Ross’ basket, Lenzelle Smith was able to knock away a Solomon Hill pass to secure a round of eight berth for his school.
