Nobody expected Kentucky to blow Notre Dame out on Thursday night. Heck, most folks didn’t even think it was a lock that they could win this one on the road. But everyone, absolutely everyone, thought it would at least be competitive.
It wasn’t. The Fighting Irish ultimately dominated their counterparts from start to finish. When it was all said and done, Notre Dame out-rebounded, out-assisted, out-shot and out-hustled Kentucky en route to a 64-50 victory. The better team undoubtedly won.
Eric Atkins led the way for Notre Dame with 16 points on seven-of-11 shooting. Jack Cooley and Jerian Grant pitched in 13 points apiece. Cameron Biedscheid had 10 points off the bench, too.
On the other side of the floor, Julius Mays led the way for the Wildcats with 16 points. Nerlens Noel had 10 points and seven rebounds. Aside from Mays and Noel, none of Kentucky’s other players had more than two made field goals.
