Why Did Oklahoma City Thunder Refuse Lil Wayne Tickets to Game 3?
The Oklahoma City Thunder will probably lose to the San Antonio Spurs two more times over the course of their next three games. Then they’ll watch the Spurs advance to the NBA Finals and trounce the Miami Heat because, in all honesty, Tim Duncan and Co. are that much better than every other team in the Association right now.
But even in the process of losing to San Antonio, OKC continues to endear itself to us like few other organizations in recent memory have. Between the Thunder’s collection of loveable horribly dressed superstars, bearded warriors and rambunctious fans – this squad is pretty much everyone’s second favorite team right now. That's a scientific fact.
On Thursday night, we found out that the Thunder did another one of those Thunder things that makes the Thunder so gosh darn lovable.
Per Lil Wayne’s twitter account:
Was going to go to the Thunder game tonight but was denied by the team to be in their arena. Wow. Smh. Go Spurs!

Now, seeing as Weezy is an awful rapper ("Don't f*** up with Wayne/ 'Cause when it Waynes it pours." #neverforget) and an even worse bandwagon basketball fan, there really doesn’t even need to be a good reason for OKC’s decision. It could just be one of those, No Shoes, No Shirt, No Skills, No Service type deals. But because we live in an information-driven age, folks had to get the bottom of this story.
Why would Wayne not be given tickets to Game 3?
There are two theories floating around. We’ll let you judge the validity of each on your own.
According to Black Sports Online, it’s because The Bearded Warrior, James Harden, is dating Trina. Nuff said, right? Well, in case you're not satisfied with that – according to other people…

But if you're looking to take a road trip and watch Game 3 in OKC, tickets will be hard to come by. In fact, if you live in Texas you are not allowed to buy tickets off Ticketmaster.com.
In this case, Ticketmaster.com is just the middle man doing what they're told. The people putting restrictions on the ticket buying are the Oklahoma City Thunder. They tell us it's something they've done in Round 1 and 2 of the playoffs.
Spurs fans have proven they're willing to do just about anything to prove their love. We’ve seen everything from kids from shaving their heads to fans sewing a special gladiator costume for game time.
Here’s what the Ticketmaster.com website reads when you’re trying to buy tickets to the game:
*** VERY IMPORTANT !! *** Sales to the Oklahoma City Thunder, Western Conference Finals Home Games at Chesapeake Energy Arena, will be restricted to residents of Oklahoma, Kansas & Arkansas. Residency will be based on credit card billing address. Orders by residents outside of this area will be canceled without notice and refunds given.
So there you have it. Even though it would have been hilarious if the Thunder had just rejected Wayne’s ticket request because of his sheer awfulness, they actually apparently had a really good reason for doing it.
