Video: Kobe Bryant Hits 30K Career Points Milestone During Lakers vs. Hornets

| by Alex Groberman

Kobe Bryant joined elite company on Wednesday when his Los Angeles Lakers earned a 103-87 victory over the New Orleans Hornets.

Coming into last night’s outing, Bryant needed 13 points into order cross the 30,000 career point mark. He got there with ease by halftime – scoring 17 through two quarters. He would ultimately finish with 27 points for the game (on a very efficient 10-of-17 from the field), a total could have been higher if the Lakers hadn’t dominated the soon-to-be Pelicans from the third quarter onward.

Who sits alongside Bryant in the 30,000 point club? Just a few little-known talents: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain.

After the game, Bryant tried to put it all in perspective.

"Honestly, I don't know why I'm still working as hard as I am after 17 years," he said. "I enjoy what I do. I think that's the thing that I'm most proud of: every year, every day working hard at it. It's a lot of years, a lot of work."
