The Houston Rockets have been surprisingly good this year. For all of the talk about how James Harden wasn’t a No. 1 option and that the team overpaid for Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik, it’s hard to argue with wins and losses totals. And the latest wins and losses totals have Houston sitting at 21-15 and sixth in the Western Conference.
This past Wednesday night the Rockets had a chance to creep within one game of the fifth place Golden State Warriors. They failed – ultimately losing to the New Orleans Hornets 88-79.
Aside from Harden’s 25 points (on nine-of-18 shooting), Houston couldn’t get anything from any other their other players the day following their big victory over L.A. Lin finished with nine points, five rebounds, five assists and five turnovers; Asik finished with eight points and eight boards. They got a combined 22 points from the bench.
As usual Greivis Vasquez led the way for New Orleans with 17 points and 11 assists. Jason Smith and Roger Mason each chipped 17 points off the bench, too.
