Video: Eric Gordon Discusses His Weird Injury and Why He Won’t Play for the Hornets

| by Alex Groberman

Eric Gordon really hates the New Orleans Hornets. There is just no getting around this truth. Despite the fact that New Orleans boasts one of the most exciting and promising young rosters in the NBA today, clearly, this team’s supposedly marquee player despises everything about it. He made that sort of clear when he tried to ditch the Hornets for the Phoenix Suns this summer, and then he reinforced it (really, really reinforced it) over these past few days.

Here is a recap of what’s been going down in the Big Easy, in case you haven’t been paying attention: this week, Monty Williams came out and essentially announced that Gordon would be out indefinitely with a knee injury that, really, didn’t seem like it should be keeping him out indefinitely. Then, the team said that Gordon wouldn’t be speaking  on the matter – which naturally raised some red flags. Shortly after that proclamation, all involved flip-flopped on that last bit, and Gordon spoke to the media regarding his weird injury.

Here was him speaking on it (via Yahoo! Sports):

Yeah, maybe Gordon should have stuck to the original plan.

So is he hurt? Is this his way of getting back at the Hornets for not letting him go to Phoenix? Maybe, but that would certainly be a weird move. What’s done is done, after all. That ship has sailed. And it’s not like the Suns are dramatically better than his current team right now. The only difference is locale.

Stay tuned, this bizarre situation doesn’t look like it will be resolved any time soon.
