Contrary to what the skeptics may have had you believing during the preseason, this Knicks-Nets rivalry is legit. In their two showdowns against one another thus far, both teams have created the sort of playoff atmosphere that is usually lacking in early season games.
Last night, in front of a packed house, the Knicks ultimately beat their New York rivals 100-97.
Carmelo Anthony led the way for the winning side with 45 points on 15-of-24 shooting. Jason Kidd and J.R. Smith pitched in 18 points (plus six assists and six rebounds) and 16 points, respectively. No other Knicks players finished in double figures.
Meanwhile, Andray Blatche (!) led the way for the losing side with 23 points on nine-of-13 shooting. Deron Williams and Gerald Wallace pitched in 18 points (plus 10 assists) and 17 points, respectively.
