The biggest highlight from the Los Angeles Lakers’ most recent embarrassing defeat proved to be an accidental moment of honesty from an NBA official.
In the fourth quarter of Wednesday night’s showdown between the Lakers and San Antonio Spurs, referee Bill Kennedy admitted to a national audience that the reason Mike D’Antoni’s 20-second timeout felt like it was taking forever was because the game needed to be stalled for a commercial break.
Problem was, apparently Kennedy and ESPN got their signals crossed because the World Wide Leader didn’t actually take a commercial break. Instead they zoomed in on him and, well, this happened…
Moral of the story: never be honest about anything at any point in time.
