How does this make sense considering Jeff Teague is already there? It's not really for basketball reasons, per se. Sure, Harris can come off the bench but the point of this trade is to shed salary. Marvin Williams is still booked for the next two seasons (early termination option by Marvin but he'll take the option year, I'm sure) while Harris only has a year left ($8.5 million) in his current deal. So basically, the Hawks are going to be even bigger players in the 2013 offseason.
Meanwhile, Harris looked expendable in Utah after Mo Williams got sent there by way of the Lamar Odom deal. The Jazz really don't have anyone at small forward and that's where Marvin Williams fits. I've never really been a big fan of Marvin's game, especially since he was picked ahead of Deron Williams (too many people named Williams) and Chris Paul. But he did shoot nearly 39 percent from behind the arc last season.
For the Hawks, it's all about cleaning house. Now... IS Josh Smith really the next to go?
