Sorry to interrupt your Olympic viewing but there is some NBA news.
Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel has reported that Jacque Vaughn will become the new coach of the Orlando Magic.
Jacque Vaughn has spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach for the San Antonio Spurs so he is a Gregg Popovich disciple. He also spent his last three years as a player in a Spurs uniform. Overall, he played 12 seasons in the league, mostly as a back-up point guard.
According to that article, Popovich thinks Vaughn is similar to Avery Johnson in coaching due to the similar paths they've taken (point guard to coaching). If that's any indication (along with Popovich's influence), maybe Vaughn will be a disciplinarian. Either way, the team is flux due to the whole Dwight Howard situation. Vaughn's job is not going to be fun for a while.
We do know this. One big person is not a fan of this Orlando hiring.
