NBA Rumors: Are the Utah Jazz Going to Trade Raja Bell?

| by Alex Groberman

It is a virtual certainty that Raja Bell will not finish this coming season in a Utah Jazz uniform. Seeing as both sides have acknowledged a desire to move forward, it isn’t a stretch to assume that Bell will likely end up elsewhere sooner rather than later. That’s pretty much guaranteed. The means by which he ends up elsewhere, though, is in a state of flux right now.

On Tuesday, a report on indicated that the Jazz were seeking out a trade partner who was interested in acquiring Bell’s services. Because it had previously been reported that the organization would attempt to buy out their disgruntled shooting guard, this latest development came as something of a surprise.

Later in the day Bell’s agent, Herb Rudy, spoke to The Desert News regarding Real GM’s report. Here was his response when asked if he and Utah had talked about a  possible trade involving his client:

“Absolutely not,” he said.

"I was asked if we are discussing a buyout and I said 'no.' The rest is pure speculation. There is no trade talk that I know about."

Bell has not participated in training camp with the Jazz up to this point. Most assumed that this was because a buyout was imminent. Given this latest development, however, it is impossible to say with certainty what is going on.

Over the summer, when it was assumed that he and Utah would come to some sort of an agreement, Bell was mentioned as a possible pick-up for the Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers and an assortment of other contenders. Because of how slowly things are moving, though, the likelihood of him landing with either squad now appears to be slim.
