Once upon a time, Darko Milicic was a coveted NBA prospect. So coveted, in fact, that the Pistons picked him second overall in the illustrious 2003 NBA Draft ahead of guys like Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade, Mo Williams, and David West. You think former Pistons president Joe Dumars regrets that one?
Milicic has been out of the NBA for almost two years now, but the 7’0” Serbian isn't done with professional sports.
Milicic announced this week that he’s going to start a new career as a kickboxer. Milicic was inspired to try his hand at kickboxing after seeing a humanitarian campaign auctioning off a kickboxing world title belt last year.
“When I got home, I told myself: Why buy it if you can win it?” Milicic told the Associated Press. "I won't go deep into this [kickboxing] if I cannot be devoted to it 100 percent. We will see what happens."
