Jeremy Lin looked out at the assembled media after Wednesday’s 100-85 New York Knicks victory over the Sacramento Kings, and the monumental impact he has made on the league certainly struck him hard. Lin has tried to downplay the frenzy he has generated to this point, but when he was told President Obama was now following his exploits, Lin was nearly rendered speechless.
“Wow, the President,” he said.
Even though Lin scored only 10 points on Wednesday, he dished out a career-best 13 assists as the Knicks won their seventh consecutive game in convincing fashion. With Amar’e Stoudemire back in action and Carmelo Anthony close to returning, Lin won’t be scoring as much as he did when he made his initial splash during he first six games of the victory run. But that’s all fine for the Knicks and their fans.
Lin will now go from offensive centerpiece to pure floor general as the team gets its big guns fully back in action. But unlike earlier in the season, when New York was sputtering, now they have a true director on offense, a player who generates excellent ball movement, continuity and sets the pace for the offense. Lin’s ability to see the court and make the offense flow well is what the team was missing before the seven-game winning streak began.

Stoudemire is instantly reveling in the new Knicks atmosphere and has happily joined in with Lin. Listen in as I take part in Wednesday’s postgame interview with the New York superstar, as he addresses the improvements on offense and also talks about the recent play on defense, among other subjects.
