Houston Rockets Trade Chase Budinger to Minnesota Timberwolves for 1st Round Draft Pick

| by The No Look Pass

According to Jonathan Givony of Draft Express, Chase Budinger of the Houston Rockets has been traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves for the #18 pick.

It's been thrown around that the Rockets are stockpiling picks (they have the #14 and #16 picks) so they can put together a package for Orlando's Dwight Howard. Yes. Even for a rental (but I'm sure it's just so that they can have enough time to convince Howard to stay). Orlando is cleaning house and, well, we anticipate them to trade Howard so that they can start their rebuilding in earnest.

As for Minnesota, they have Wesley Johnson starting, who has not panned out for them. At least, with Budinger, they'll be better on the 3 (Derrick Williams is also there... and Michael Beasley is a restricted free agent). And Budinger has a 3-point shot so he can help spread the floor for them Wolves. Basically, he's an upgrade. Chase also reunites with old coach Rick Adelman, who coached Houston before going to Minnie.

So it works for both. Houston gets to play around with all them mid-1st round picks while Minnesota should be better served at the small forward position. Then again, maybe Houston traded Chase Budinger because he didn't kick Diddy in the head.
