Ex-NBA Player Samaki Walker Ate Marijuana, Got Arrested

One of the all-time great busts in NBA history, Samaki Walker, was -- fittingly enough -- busted for drug possession in Arizona this past Thursday.

According to the Las Vegas Review Journal, Walker was pulled over in his 2002 Mercedes-Benz during a routine traffic stop in Kingman. Fearing the worst, the player who was selected ahead of both Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash in the 1996 NBA Draft opted employ the “Eddy Curry defense” and swallow the evidence.

Despite Walker’s well thought-out attempts at covering his tracks, the police were still able to seize 10 grams of marijuana, eight bottles of liquid steroids and some prescription drugs from the car.

Walker was the No. 9 overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft and had a career that spanned 10 years. Along the way he played with the Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, Washington Wizards and Indiana Pacers. He contributed an average of about six points per game over the course of that illustrious reign over the NBA.

Walker also famously got smacked up by Kobe Bryant during a team bus ride one day, leaving him with a bandaged eye and an official loss to the same guy who was on the receiving end of this.

Below you can find the peak of Walker’s NBA career – it all went downhill after this video.
