Deron Williams Signs 5-Year, $98M Deal with Brooklyn Nets on an iPad (Photo)

| by Alex Groberman

Free agent point guard Deron Williams officially took himself off the market late last night when he signed a 5-year, $98 million deal with the Brooklyn Nets.

By inking that massive, massive contract, Williams answered one of this summer’s more interesting NBA-related questions – whether he and Dwight Howard would somehow find a way to get on the same roster. While both have publicly admitted that they want to play together, ultimately, Williams didn’t allow Howard’s up-in-the-air status to influence his decision.

He took the money and ran.

Even though Williams had made his intention to re-sign with the Nets known last week, his official signing caused something of a stir. No, not because he got more money or some special perks inserted in his contract; rather, the reason Williams’ signing caused a stir was because of the way he did it.

Remember how Blackberry used to be the go-to tech item for business people? Well, seeing as guys are inking (almost) hundred million dollar deals on iPads now, it’s probably safe to say that’s no longer the case.
