2012 NBA Playoffs Recap: Spurs, Jazz, Clippers, Grizzlies

| by The No Look Pass

Is this the end of one team's season?

WEST 1st Round * Game 4 * Spurs WIN series, 4-0

Utah decided to go with a starting big line-up of Paul Millsap, Derrick (SEXUAL!) Favors, and Al Jefferson. But it still didn't seem to make a difference. A Gary Neal three with 6:16 left in the game put the Spurs up, 81-60.

Somehow, the Jazz made one last furious run. They were able to cut the lead down to four with 49 seconds left but they had one costly turnover when the ball went off Millsap's hands. Manu Ginobili made a (slow) breakaway lay-up that pretty much put the game away. The Spurs are now the second team to advance to the second round.

Ginobili led the Spurs with 17 points. The Jazz starting frontline had big games. Jefferson scored 26 points, Favors finished with 16 and 10, and Millsap finished with 10 points and 19 boards.

Utah does have a bright future, at least. But this year is definitely not theirs.

WEST 1st Round * Game 4 * Clippers lead series, 3-1

This was an ugly, physical contest but it provided for some exciting moments. After the Grizzlies took a 72-71 lead, the Clippers blasted off with an 11-0 run. Memphis countered with a 7-0 run. Eventually, Zach Randolph tied the game at 87 with a couple of Z-throws to send it to overtime (thank me later for that clever joke!).

Despite Blake Griffin fouling out in overtime, Chris Paul drained two big jumpers in OT that gave the Clippers a good enough cushion to win in overtime.

Blake finished with 30 points and 7 assists while Paul had a 27-9-7 line. Mike Conley had a quiet, fantastic game with 25-7-8 but it was because Rudy Gay had an awful shooting game. He scored 23 points off 25 shots. And Marc Gasol only had one made field goal. Clips are one win away from advancing to the second round.

Tomorrow, let's see if other teams go home!
