2012 NBA Playoffs Recap: Heat, Knicks, Grizzlies, Clippers
#7 NEW YORK KNICKS 94 @ #2 MIAMI HEAT 106
EAST 1st Round * Game 5 * Heat WIN series, 4-1
The Heat got the lead late in the first quarter and never relinquished it. They led as many as 19 points in the 4th. Even with Carmelo Anthony doing his best to keep the Knicks in the game (35 points), it just wasn't enough. J.R. Smith struggled with his shot (3/15, 12 points). When Amar'e Stoudemire fouled out, the PA announcer said, "Amar'e Stoudemire has been extinguished from this game!" Clever.
LeBron James went out there and had a 29-8-7 line. They will be facing the Indiana Pacers starting Sunday afternoon.
And we thought this series was going to be something, right?
#5 LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS 80 @ #4 MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES 92
WEST 1st Round * Game 5 * Clippers lead series, 3-2
Memphis played their bruising style of basketball, which befuddled the Clippers. The Grizzlies built a 24-point lead after the Clips lost their composure (five technicals).
Later on, Blake Griffin hurt his left knee (same knee that was operated on). The Memphis crowd booed. They're such class acts. He would eventually make a return.
The Clips stormed back and got the lead down to 6 points. But Chris Paul would reaggravate his groin and not return. The Clips went on a drought and the Grizzlies took advantage. We're goin' back to Cali... Cali... Cali for Game 6.
Marc Gasol finally broke out with 23 points while Mo Williams led the Clippers with 20 points. But the Clipper franchise players' healths are definitely big question marks.
Let's see if there are more series closing tomorrow.
