Video: Derrick Rose Cries After Watching an Adidas Commercial Featuring His ACL Tear

Seeing as they inked Derrick Rose to a 13-year, $200 million contract back in February, it's sort understandable that Adidas would want to milk every possible cent out of him – even if it means using his injury in slightly unsavory fashion. And so, it should come as no surprise to anyone that the powers that be over there are low-key pushing a new video of their No. 1 star being as emotional as anyone has ever seen him.

On Thursday, at an unveiling of his new shoe, Rose was shown a commercial featuring his gruesome ACL tear from last year and the subsequent recovery. Because Rose is who he is (he’s stoic, yeah, but he’s still pretty emotional about the stuff that matters), he understandably broke down.

Predictably, there has been something of a mixed reaction to that video. On one hand, the strength and resolve Rose is exhibiting on his road to recovery is amazing. On the other hand, it does feel like his injury is getting blatantly exploited.

It’s all part of the game, though, I suppose.
