Reigning NBA MVP Derrick Rose had been having an awful, injury-plagued 2012 campaign heading into Saturday afternoon’s game versus the Philadelphia 76ers. Then, in one terrifying, unfortunate sequence – things took a turn from the bad to the horrific when he went down with what was eventually confirmed to be ACL tear.

Check out video of the play in question below (Warning: it’s agonizing to watch):

The Bulls won the game and will likely win the series, but it’s hard to envision them getting too far in the postseason sans their biggest star. Then again, this is a squad that’s been able to win consistently -- and emerge as the top team in the East, record-wise -- without Rose for a large chunk of the year, so maybe the magical run can keep on going.

Time will tell.
