The Minnesota Timberwolves have been the butt of a lot of jokes over the last few years, but that may soon change. Not because David Kahn is suddenly an even mildly competent president of operations for the team these days, and certainly not because Michael Beasley has pledged to stop doing stupid things. Rather, the team’s newfound potential to impress stems strictly from the unique pieces that they have inadvertently stockpiled from years upon years of being awful.
During Saturday’s preseason effort versus the Milwaukee Bucks, two of those pieces -- guard Ricky Rubio and forward Derrick Williams -- came up with the highlight of the night on a monstrous alley-oop. A few more of these during games that actually matter and we might start having to take this franchise a little more seriously.
