Mike Dunlap Hired to be New Head Coach of the Charlotte Bobcats

| by The No Look Pass

It was first reported at the Charlotte Observer, that Mike Dunlap was hired to be the next Charlotte Bobcats head coach.

Mike Dunlap was coaching at St. John's last year as an assistant (and was also acting head coach when Steve Lavin was out). But his NBA experience consists of being an assistant for the Denver Nuggets a few years ago. George Karl speaks highly of this guy so he must be good, right?

Nate McMillan, Brian Shaw, and Jerry Sloan were also all candidates but the Bobcats decided to not go with a name but to go with someone that is NOT known. However, Dunlap, from all accounts, is supposed to be a great X's and O's guy. Since the Bobcats have a lot of young guys on the team, it probably makes sense for them to go to the college ranks and get someone like Mike Dunlap. They are starting over so they might as well have a new everything, including the coach.

And I don't have an issue with them hiring Dunlap. For all we know, he could be the perfect fit. Plus it's refreshing that we have somebody new instead of getting someone that's failed as an NBA head coach 262 times.

I... just have no idea who he is.
