In what was mostly just an unfortunate freak occurrence, Portland Trail Blazers guard Nolan Smith took a serious hit to the head during Tuesday's Las Vegas Summer League showdown between the Blazers and Houston Rockets.

The hit came when Zoran Dragic inadvertently smacked Smith as the latter player attempted a layup.

According to CBS Sports, the young guard lay motionless for several minutes while his eyelids twitched uncontrollably. Eventually, he was taken off the court in a stretcher.

Late Tuesday night, the Blazers announced that Smith’s hospital CT scan came back “normal."
