The United States Men’s Basketball team dominated the Dominican Republic in a 105-62 victory at Madison Square Garden last night. The win didn’t receive much press because, well, the U.S. did what everyone knew they would do.
But just because the game was predictable doesn’t mean it wasn’t without its highlights. The best one of the night came from Pistons center Andre Drummond, who pulled off a downright dirty one-handed alley oop dunk in the fourth quarter.
The dunk was so impressive that commentators Marv Albert, Steve Smith, and Grant Hill could only mutter some strange “OOoOOooh” noise in response.
Up next for the U.S. Men’s team is an exhibition match against Puerto Rico at Madison Square Garden. U.S Coach Mike Krzyzewski is expected to trim the roster from 16 players to 12 by this weekend.
The U.S. team’s 2014 FIBA World Cup action gets kicked off on August 30, with a matchup against Finland in Spain.
