The 2012 NBA season tips off on Tuesday, October 30 and the Boston Celtics, Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers will all be in action.
Plus, on top of the varsity slate, the Washington Wizards and Cleveland Cavaliers will also battle it out in an effort to determine who the 11th best team in the Eastern Conference is.
Here is the opening night schedule:
7:00 p.m. – Washington Wizards vs. Cleveland Cavaliers (NBA TV)
What to look for: The debuts of Bradley Beal and Dion Waiters. How will these teams’ new rookies look in their first legitimate non-summer league games as pros? Is this the year John Wall becomes a bonafide NBA superstar? Will Kyrie Irving be back and healthy in time for this game?
8:00 p.m. – Boston Celtics vs. Miami Heat (TNT)
Will the additions of Courtney Lee and Jason Terry offset the loss of Ray Allen? Can Kevin Garnett replicate the success he had last year? Will Ray Allen bounce back after a relatively unimpressive campaign last season? (Spare me the three-point shooting numbers, the injuries visibly hindered him.) Will Miami be as hungry in this game as they were versus the Mavericks last year?
10:30 p.m. – Dallas Mavericks vs. Los Angeles Lakers (TNT)
How will the Mavericks’ new additions look? Dallas low-key got a lot better while nobody was looking this summer. How will Steve Nash and Kobe Bryant mesh? Will Andrew Bynum have his head in the game after being the subject of trade rumors all summer? Can Pau Gasol have a bounce back year?
