#8 PHILADELPHIA 76ERS 75 @ #4 BOSTON CELTICS 85
EAST Semifinals * Game 7 * Celtics WIN series, 4-3
This is Game 7. This is for all the marbles. This is where the players lay everything on the line.
It doesn't mean that the game was going to be pretty all of a sudden. This Game 7 hype was like the 90s flick, Waterworld. The premise seemed awesome and the previews made it seem like a must-watch. But once you're watching it, it turns out to be... not so great.
The Celtics got off to a 10-2 start. We had seen this movie before. And sure enough, the Sixers caught 'em and even took the lead at 20-19. All this time, you wonder if they're really professional basketball players because they could not put the ball through the hoop.

Anyway, from then on, it was an uphill climb for Philly.
The Sixers could never catch the Celtics. Kevin Garnett played tremendous defense throughout. Even when there were flashes of brilliance from Evan Turner, Andre Iguodala, Elton Brand, and Jrue Holiday, the Celtics would throw a counterpunch. One blow the Celtics couldn't land, however, was the shot behind the arc. Basically, they were like me at a typical night at a bar; the Celtics were 0 for 14...
...and then Ray Allen, who had struggled pretty much the entire series, made a huge three to put Boston up, 60-54. He would make another one to put them up, 69-61.
Then Philly closed it to a 71-68 deficit before they managed to foul Paul Pierce out. The Celtics seemed doomed with Pierce's ouster. Besides Garnett, who would they go to?

Rajon Rondo, of course. Up to that point, he's had a terrible game. Then for some strange reason, he caught on fire. After he made a lay-up, he made two consecutive long jumpers (one foot-on-the-line and one three-pointer). Because, obviously, we call count on Rondo to make jumpers to win the game (sarcasm, if you can't tell, ladies and fellas). Rondo scored the next nine points after Pierce's disqualification and that basically put away the Sixers' season.
Garnett was great all game with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Rondo got a triple double with fries (18-10-10) even though he turned the ball over 7 times. Iguodala led the Sixers with 18 points. The Celtics move on to face Miami in a rematch from last year's postseason.
Again, not a pretty game by any means, so I guess I'll have to make up for it somehow.
Go watch the Western Conference Finals tomorrow, guys!
