With slightly more than two weeks to go before the 2012 NBA Draft, you’re beginning to see the rumor mill kick into overdrive and various teams position themselves for all sorts of big moves.
The lottery wound up going more or less the way we expected it would, but the one thing that didn’t go according to plan was the New Orleans Hornets landing the No. 1 pick over the godforsaken Charlotte Bobcats.
That was huge, obviously.
So where do we stand at this point? Well, teams are currently in the process of doing one or both of the following: 1.) arranging player workouts and 2.) trying to peddle their picks.

There have been some murmurs that the Bobcats might be willing to move the No. 2 for an established player like Rudy Gay, but that’s purely hearsay right now. There has also been some buzz surrounding the Toronto Raptors moving their No. 8 pick, but so far no eager takers have jumped at that opportunity.
The top six players that will be selected in this year’s draft are: Davis, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Bradley Beal, Thomas Robinson, Andre Drummond and Harrison Barnes. We don’t know what the order will be, but we know that those guys are likely going top six. The Golden State Warriors’ seventh pick, however, could be any one of a number of prospects. Perry Jones III, Terrence Jones and Jared Sullinger have all be whispered about, but Golden State management has been very quiet on who it likes most.
Here are just a few of the other really interesting storylines to keep an eye on as they relate to the top seven picks: do the Bobcats go with Kidd-Gilchrist or Robinson at No. 2? Who pulls the trigger on ultra-talented but super raw big man, Drummond? Are the Cleveland Cavaliers as in love with Barnes as they’re said to be, or is that just a smokescreen? Are the Washington Wizards really prepared to put a John Wall-Beal backcourt on the floor?
We answer all those questions and more in our projections for picks Nos. 1-7.
